When Emma Hannigan found out that many of the females in her family carried a gene called Brca, Emma knew she had to get tested. If not for her, for the sake of her husband and two young children. The blood tests showed that Emma had the gene too, which ultimately meant that she had an 85% chance of developing breast cancer and a 50% chance of ovarian cancer.
Designer Genes was written when Emma was in hospital. Not been able to take constant daytime TV she found solace in her laptop. It is an inspirational & brave story told openly. It leaves you full of admiration for Emma who wants nothing in life but happiness with her family.
